LEWISTON, Idaho – Bed races, a lip-sync battle, a tailgate party, volleyball matches, and a fight song competition are just some of the events that will be held during the fifth annual modern day Lewis-Clark State College Homecoming Week, which is scheduled for Sept. 30-Oct. 5.
There are several activities planned for the week. All Homecoming events are open to the public, except for the Career Fair and reception, and are free unless otherwise noted. Anyone planning to attend one or more events is asked to register. While registration is free, there is an opportunity to purchase LCSC Homecoming T-shirts for $5 apiece (see design at left). Only a certain number of shirts are available and should be ordered online to guarantee a size.
Student activities during the week include a Warrior Flag Find on Oct. 1-4. The flag event is sponsored by the LCSC Alumni Association, which will hide a flag each day at locations across the campus. The student who locates and returns the flag to the alumni office, located on the corner of 9th Avenue and 7th Street, will receive free LCSC apparel. The daily winners will compete on Friday night for a grand prize. Clues on where to find the flags will be posted on the LCSC Alumni Facebook (Lewis-Clark State Alumni & Friends) and Instagram (lcscalumni) accounts at 9 a.m. each day, starting on Oct. 1.
Also during the week, students, faculty and staff are encouraged to wear Homecoming-themed clothes. The themes are Red Day for Wednesday, Oct. 2, Blue Day for Thursday, Oct. 3, and LCSC Gear to show Warrior Pride on Friday, Oct. 4. Those who participate are encouraged to post photos to Instagram with #LCHOMECOMING to win prizes.
Prior to the week, a fight song competition is scheduled. LC State does not currently have a fight song. Anyone can write and submit a song and/or lyrics, but the submission deadline is Sept. 25. Submissions should be sent to Holly Daugherty at hndaughtery@lcsc.edu or dropped off at the information desk at the Student Union Building during normal 8 a.m.-5 p.m. business hours.
