1943 | Authorized by the Idaho State Board of Education to grant the B.A. degree in Elementary and Secondary Education. Prior to this date, the College had offered a two-year program to prepare teachers for grades one through nine. |
1947 | Action by the Idaho Legislature changing the name to Northern Idaho College of Education. |
1951 | Became non-operational due to the failure of the Idaho Legislature to appropriate funds for the 1951-53 Biennium. |
1955 | Re-established by an act of the Idaho Legislature as Lewis-Clark Normal School. The College was designed to operate as a two-year division of the University of Idaho for teacher training and education. |
1963 | Action by the Idaho Legislature authorized independent status as a four-year college. |
1965 | The Associate Degree Nursing Program and the Area Vocational School were added. |
1967 | Graduation of the first Baccalaureate degrees since being re-established as a four-year institution. |
1970 | Accreditation of the Associate Degree Nursing Program by the National League for Nursing. |
1971 | Action by the Idaho Legislature changing the name to Lewis-Clark State College. |
1973 | Accredited by the Northwest Association of Secondary and Higher Schools as a four-year degree granting institution on the basis of a self-study and full team visit. Review and approval of all teacher education programs, both at elementary and secondary levels, by a team visit of the Idaho Professional Standards Commission. |
