General Sabbatical Leave Information
All sabbatical proposals are evaluated by the Faculty Affairs Committee using the evaluation criteria established by the LCSC sabbatical policy (Policy 2.114). The Faculty Affairs Committee strives for a fair evaluation of all proposals.
Develop and submit your proposal following the guidelines described within this document. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that the proposal is complete and submitted on-time.
Start by reviewing the Idaho State Board of Education Policy (Select G.) and the Lewis-Clark State College Policy 2.114.

Sabbatical leaves may be granted after six (6) full academic years of service at Lewis-Clark State College or after six (6) full academic years have elapsed since the faculty member's most recent sabbatical leave.
Policy 2.114 details the sabbatical proposal submission, review, and approval timeline. Proposals are due October 1 by 5:00 p.m. of each year (or the next working day when October 1 falls on a weekend). Applications submitted after this time will not be accepted.

A. Sabbatical Packet
- Cover Letter (1 page maximum)
- Description of Proposed Sabbatical (6 pages or 2500 words maximum, whichever is more)
- Current Curriculum Vita
Create one (1) .pdf document and email to academicaffairs@lcsc.edu. Copy your Division Chair, the Dean's office, and Chair of Faculty Affairs.
B. Division Chair Recommendation
In accordance with Policy 2.114 (section 11.D), the Division Chair submits a letter of recommendation by October 10 to the Faculty Affairs Chair with a copy to the academicaffairs@lcsc.edu.
C. Dean Recommendation
In accordance with Policy 2.114 (section 11.D), the Dean submits a letter of recommendation by October 17 to the Faculty Affairs Chair with a copy to academicaffairs@lcsc.edu.
Applicants will be informed of their award status by November 15. The sabbatical recipient must accept or reject the sabbatical leave in writing by November 30. Sabbatical leaves are reported to the State Board of Education.
Within the academic year immediately following sabbatical, the faculty member shall give a campus presentation on the activities and accomplishments of the sabbatical leave.
