Housing Accommodations

If you need ADA accommodations, first you must complete an application for Housing with LC State Residence Life. Next, you must complete an application for accommodations with Accessibility Services in the Online Services Portal and make sure to provide all necessary documentation. Failure to do so may result in a significant delay and/or the inability to be able to meet your requested housing accommodation.

Based on review of your request and supporting medical documentation, Accessibility Services may be able to approve your housing accommodations but Residence Life's ability to provide you the qualifying housing accommodation is based on availability of space on a first come/first serve basis.

For students with specific disabilities, housing accommodations may be necessary in order to provide full and integrated access to on-campus living. Examples of housing accommodations include but are not limited to:

  • Single occupancy rooms
  • Shared/private baths
  • Emotional support or service animals
  • Medically required furniture

Housing accommodations must be reasonable and relate to the students' disability and address their functional limitations. LC State Accessibility Services and Residence Life work closely together to ensure a positive living environment for students with disabilities who live in campus housing.

Dining Accommodations

If you live in campus housing and have a dietary medical condition that you feel LC State Dining Services may be unable to accommodate, please complete an accommodation application through the Accessibility Services Online Service Portal and make sure to provide all necessary dietary documentation.

Accessibility Services staff will review documentation on a case-by-case basis to determine if a meeting with LC State Dining Services and the student is necessary to come up with an alterative meal plan to meet the dietary needs of the student. If an alternative meal plan cannot be accommodated LC State Accessibility Services will work with Residence Life to exempt the student from the required meal plan.

*Please note, the process to exempt a student from a meal plan is so thorough because LC State needs to ensure that students have access to a food source. Exemption from a meal plan will result in the student being required to purchase and prepare food on their own.
