First-Year Student

If you graduated from high school, ask your high school to send your official transcript to the LC State Admissions Office: 500 8th Avenue Lewiston, ID 83501. Transcripts can also be emailed to admissions@lcsc.edu. 

If you enrolled in any college courses while in high school, those transcripts must be submitted as well.

If you received your GED, official scores need to be sent directly from the GED Testing Service.

Official transcripts must arrive in a sealed envelope or in official electronic format from the issuing institution to be valid. Photocopies of records are not official.

*You can be tentatively admitted off unofficial or working transcripts. Unofficial transcripts may be sent to admissions@lcsc.edu or uploaded to "Supplemental Items & Documents" in your Application Portal account. Unofficial college transcripts must include your full name, institution, grade points, credits, and grade point average. Working transcripts indicate you are currently enrolled in classes. After your grades and/or degree are posted, you will need to have official transcripts sent to the Admissions Office. Full admission will be granted once we receive all official transcripts.

You can submit test scores by uploading them to "Supplemental Items & Documents" in your Application Portal account. Step by step instructions on how to upload test scores and transcripts are in the video below. 

You can also email your test scores to admissions@lcsc.edu. 

Academic students under 21 years of age are not required to submit test scores for admissions purposes. However you will need to submit an ACT or SAT score or take the LC State Placement Exams for class registration. Official scores for the SAT (code: 4385) or ACT (code: 009200) are sent directly from the Collegeboard (SAT) or ACT website.

Academic students over 21 years of age are not required to submit test scores for admission. However, it is recommended that you take the LC State Placement Exams for course registration.

Career and Technical Students can submit ACT or SAT scores or can take the LC State Placement Exams.

When you finish your application, feel free to check your application status.

Once all admission documents are received, you will be notified of your acceptance in one to two weeks. After receiving your acceptance letter, you should check out the admitted student page.

You will receive notification of your admission status (i.e., accepted for regular, tentative, or provisional admission, probation, and denial) via mail as soon as we receive all admission documents from you.

Decisions on completed freshman applications are made on a rolling basis. Normally, this process takes about one to two weeks but can take up to four weeks depending on the volume of applications that are being received at that time. For academic regular admission, an applicant who is not admitted under the Idaho State Board of Education’s Direct Admission Program must graduate from a high school accredited by a body recognized by the Board and complete the Admission Standards Core Courses with a minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average. Cognia is the Board’s recognized high school accrediting body. Applicants who graduated from high school prior to 1995 will be subject to the admission standards at the time of their high school graduation.

Institutional academic admission standards apply to individuals who seek a technical certificate or Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree through a career technical program. The admission standards and placement criteria do not apply to workforce development or short-term training programs. Career technical programs employ program admission and student advising/navigation processes in addition to institutional academic admission.

Admission to a specific career technical program is based on the capacity of the program and specific academic and/or physical requirements established by the technical college/program. Placement test scores may be required for enrollment in a career technical program of choice.

Students who do not qualify for regular admission may qualify for provisional admission.

Degree-seeking applicants who do not qualify for regular admission may be granted provisional admission if they satisfy one or more of the following criteria:

1. Graduated from a secondary school accredited by a body recognized by the Board but has not completed the Admissions Standards Core courses
   
2. Did not graduate from a secondary school accredited by a body recognized by the Idaho State Board of Education, [e.g. home schooled students, General Education Development (GED) diploma or high school equivalency transcript holders], and have acceptable predictive indicators of academic success approved by the institution; 
   
3. Deserve consideration by the institution because of special status (e.g,, returning veterans, gifted and talented students wishing to enter college early, or other students in unique circumstances as determined by the institution). 

March 1st is LC State's priority deadline.

To be considered for scholarships (including Idaho merit based and out-of-state) we need to have your application and 7th semester (or 10th trimester) transcript on file by the priority deadline (that's the transcript from the first term of your Senior year of high school).

Submit all financial aid forms (including the FAFSA) and applications by our March 1st priority deadline for priority consideration. 

All financial aid forms and applications can be accessed through the Financial Aid website. We highly recommend submitting a scholarship application through the scholarship portal. You will also want to submit your FAFSA (FAFSA school code: 001621), which will determine your eligibility for federal and state aid. You should submit all financial aid forms and applications by our March 1st priority deadline for priority consideration.

As a freshman, you are not required to live on-campus, so choose what will work best for you! On-campus housing and assignments are based on the date deposits are received. Once on-campus housing is full, students can continue to apply and be placed on a wait list. Visit the Residence Life website to learn about on-campus and some off-campus options.

All new LC students attend STAR (Student Advising and Registration) to select first semester classes. Once admitted, you will register to attend a STAR session. STAR provides information about financial aid, payments, what to expect from college, and how to register. STAR provides new students with an opportunity to ask questions about programs and career goals.
