Surveillance Testing

Weekly Surveillance Testing

Updated Dec. 23, 2021

In an effort to create and maintain a safe campus environment, LC State is engaging in a comprehensive weekly surveillance testing program. Test kits (Vault testing kits) supplied by the State of Idaho Department of Health and Welfare will be available to students and employees (at no cost to them) at various campus locations. Surveillance testing will continue at least through January of 2022. These quick and easy saliva tests can be self-administered. Test results are reported to the individual and Idaho Public Health.

Students may pick up their kits as they engage in routine campus business (e.g., checking into a residence hall or finalizing something with Registrar/Records). Employees will be able to pick them up at Human Resource Services or at the DeArmond Building in Coeur d’Alene. Test kits will be available on Mondays and Tuesdays and must be returned by noon on Wednesdays.  Testing kits can be picked up and returned at the following locations:

  • Athletics (ACC 168)
  • Residence Life (Talkington Hall, main office)
  • Human Resource Services (for employees, Admin 102)
  • Schweitzer Career and Technical Education Center (main desk)
  • Warrior OneStop (RCH 108)
  • DeArmond Building (CDA students and employees)
  • Student Success Program lab (RCH 22A)
  • SUB/CSL (information desk)
  • Adult Basic Education/GED (front desk)
  • Workforce Training (North Lewiston facility)

Accommodations will be made to permit people to self-administer the tests when they pick them up or they may take them to self-administer later that day. Access to internet and Zoom will be needed to self-administer the tests. Once people have completed their tests, they are to return the sealed UPS package to the location at which they picked up their kits.

Students and employees who have not opted out of testing will receive weekly email and phone reminders about the testing requirement.

Opting out of Testing

Students and employees who wish to opt out of surveillance testing must present evidence of having been vaccinated.

For students, vaccination cards can be presented at the following locations:

  • Athletics (ACC 168 or ACC 221)
  • Residence Life (Talkington Hall, main office)
  • Warrior OneStop (RCH, all offices on the first floor)
  • DeArmond Building (CDA students)
  • SUB/CSL (information desk)
  • Schweitzer Career and Technical Education Center (main desk)
  • The Advising Center (RCH 208)
  • Student Counseling Center (SGC 212)

For employees, Human Resource Services (Admin 102) is the location for vaccination card presentation. Employees in Coeur d’Alene or at other off-site locations may do this via Zoom (so that they can display their card).

Opt-out information for students and employees (i.e., proof of vaccination or approval of a qualified exemption request) will have that information noted and stored in Colleague using a screen called Personal Health Information (PHIN). Actual healthcare records (i.e., vaccination cards) will not be collected or stored by LC State.
