This scholarship was established by anonymous donors in honor of the late Dr. Helen Cannon Bernfield (1900-1996), a pioneering woman physician and specialist in the treatment of tuberculosis. It is an endowed scholarship managed by the LC State Foundation, and the funds are to be used to offset expenses incurred by Lewis-Clark State College students who will go abroad to study a language currently offered at LC State. The student must have at least a 2.75 GPA and be of sophomore standing. Preference will be granted to applicants who have completed two or more years of college-level instruction in the target language.
