Teaching Mathematical Thinking (TMT) Courses
The Teaching Mathematical Thinking (TMT) course fulfills the 3 credit Mathematical Teaching for Instruction (MTI) course requirement for Idaho teachers and administrators. This professional development course examines the development of an understanding of student-centered mathematics instruction in the context of Idaho Content Standards for Teaching and Learning.
Dates are planned for the 2024-2025 school year, additional years are contingent upon continued funding of the program.
Course Format: Online - Eight Modules

Idaho Math Transitions
Foundational Standards: Algebra
This course will focus on strategies for helping all students find success with the algebra standards that have been identified as foundational for all students in preparation for any college or career path. The course will focus on the developmental trajectory of algebraic understanding and strategies for differentiation. This course will include specific attention to the high school algebra domain as well as the middle school domain of expressions and equations.

Foundational Standards: Functions
This course will focus on strategies for helping all students find success with the 'Function' standards that have been identified as foundational for all students in preparation for any college or career path. The course will focus on strategies for teaching functions through mathematical modeling and real-world contexts. The 'Foundations' domain extends from 8th grade into high school standards so middle school topics will be included.

Daily Routines to Jumpstart Problem Solving (K-8) Book Study
Collaborate with educators from around the state during a virtual book study on “Daily Routines to Jump-Start Problem Solving” by John SanGiovanni. We’ll work together to prepare routines for your classroom and then practice them during our sessions. Meetings are from 4:00-5:30 PST on the following dates:
