The Lewis-Clark Service Corps AmeriCorps program at Lewis-Clark State College is accepting applications from organizations to serve as a host agency for a Service Corps AmeriCorps member.
AmeriCorps members provide academically at-risk students of all ages with academic tutoring, teacher support, student mentoring, environmental education and enrichment activities such as music, drama and sports. Members have served more than 136,000 students across the state of Idaho since 1994, helping them successfully deal with the challenges of reaching their educational goals.
Host site applications for AmeriCorps members are now available for the upcoming program year which begins September 1, 2013 (pending grant funding). Host sites may include before- and after-school programs, public and charter schools, institutions of higher education, community- or faith-based organizations, agencies supporting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education, environmental education programs, or other education-based organizations that serve at-risk students.
Agencies selected to host a member pay a cash match of $5600 for full-time (1720 hours a year) and $3900 for part-time (920 hours a year) members. In return for their service, Lewis-Clark Service Corps AmeriCorps provides its members with a bi-weekly living allowance and, upon completion of service, a generous education award.
Applicants are encouraged to carefully review all documents. Completed and signed applications must be received electronically no later than 5:00 p.m. Pacific time on March 22. You can email your application to Barbara Syska: basyska@lcsc.edu
