Film addressing racial discrimination to be shown at CAH

The LCSC Center for Arts & History (CAH) presents the film: A Class Divided: Blue Eyes/Brown Eyes as part of the Speaking Volumes: Transforming Hate Speakers Series. The film will be shown Thursday, October 10, at 7:00 p.m. at the CAH, located at 415 Main St., Lewiston.
One day in 1968, Jane Elliott, a teacher in a small, all-white Iowa town, divided her third grade class into blue-eyed and brown-eyed groups and gave them a daring lesson in discrimination. This is the story of that lesson, its lasting impact on the children, and its enduring power 30 years later.
Following the film, participants will review and discuss the film as it relates to the current exhibit Speaking Volumes: Transforming Hate, as well as how the message from the film resonates in today's society.
The Speaking Volumes: Transforming Hate Speakers Series is brought to the Center for Arts & History through sponsorships from: LCSC Continuing Education & Community Events; Shekirah Christian Community, and through grants from US Bancorp, Idaho Commission on the Arts, and National Endowment for the Arts.
The gallery is open Tuesday - Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are welcome. Docent tours of the exhibit can be scheduled by calling the Gallery at 208.792.2243,
