LEWISTON, Idaho - LCSC Continuing Education presents the Chinese Massacre Cove Hells Canyon Excursion, led by local historian Garry Bush, on Sunday, June 22, from 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
The Chinese Massacre Cove Hells Canyon Excursion begins with a continental breakfast at the LCSC Center for Arts & History, 2nd floor conference room at 8:00 a.m. Following breakfast, a tour of the Beuk Aie Temple will be led by Garry Bush and Allen Pinkham, Nez Perce Tribal Historian.
Following the Temple tour, attendees will meet at Hells Gate Marina to board a Riverquest Excursions jet boat, with several historians aboard to educate attendees throughout the trip. This guided jet boat tour stops at historical locations where attendees can walk the sites where history was made, traveling into the canyon as far as Deep Creek, the site of the 1887 Chinese massacre. The tour will stop at Riverquest’s Garden Creek Ranch for lunch.
The cost is $165 per person. Registration can be done by calling 208.792.244. Seating is limited, so early registration is recommended. Breakfast, lunch, and beverages are included with the trip.
