LEWISTON, Idaho – The Region II Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Lewis-Clark State College will hold three workshops in June covering topics that include QuickBooks, tax deductions for small businesses, and advertising.
Pre-registration is required for the workshops and is available online at www.lcsc.edu/sbdc, by emailing ISBDC@lcsc.edu, or calling 208-792-2465. Each workshop has a $20 enrollment fee and all will be held at the SBDC offices, located at 406 Main St. in Lewiston.
The QuickBooks Report workshop will be held June 7 at 5:30-7:30 p.m. This class will teach how to create and use the various types of QuickBooks reports and graphs. There will be instruction on how to customize reports by modifying filers or moving or adding columns. Tips and troubleshooting also will be covered. Su Brown, CPA, will be the instructor.
The workshop on tax deductions for small businesses is June 14 at 5:30-7:30 p.m. This workshop will cover common business expenses that are tax deductible and general rules for deducting those expenses. It will explain when meal, travel, mileage, and entertainment expenses are tax deductible, and the difference between employees and independent contractors. Brown also will be the instructor for this workshop.
The final workshop for June will feature a panel of marketing and advertising professionals who will provide insight on how businesses can create relationships with clients and how to make good use of marketing and advertising investments. It will also cover the do’s and don’ts of advertising. The panelists include Barbara Craigie from Fastsigns and John Roy from John Roy & Associates Advertising.
