LEWISTON, Idaho – Michelle Nelson has been named the chair of the Business Technology & Service Division at Lewis-Clark State College, effective July 1, LCSC Dean of Career & Technical Education Jeff Ober has announced.
Nelson will replace Joni Mina, who is retiring this summer after 16 years at LCSC, including the last four as chair of the BTS Division.
Nelson is a 1987 graduate of Coeur d’Alene High School and earned her AAS in Medical Secretarial Science from North Idaho College. She then attended the University of Idaho and earned a bachelor’s in Office Administration and a master’s in Adult Education.
She worked at St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center in Boise as a secretary and CPR instructor. She also was a curriculum and building coordinator/recruiter for the Boise Schools Community Education where she created the 2000 spring semester curriculum at Taft Elementary in Boise. She then became an Administrative Medical Assistant instructor for the Milan Institute in Boise and Nampa in 2001.
Using the Pacific Institute curriculum, she teaches professional development strategies to succeed, which includes study skills, mock interviews, professional communication, resume building, and job readiness skills. She also served as Career Services Coordinator for a year there
