LC State to hold ‘Growing Together’ CTE professional development conference

LEWISTON, Idaho – Approximately 25 junior high and high school career technical education teachers and counselors from the Lewiston School District will be on the Lewis-Clark State College campus Thursday, Oct. 3, for a professional development conference called “Growing Together.”

The conference is designed to strengthen connections between education and businesses to stimulate awareness in students of career opportunities in high wage and high growth industries with CTE workers, including electronics, energy, cybersecurity and coding, HVACR, and diesel mechanics.

The day will feature industry tours, speaker and panel discussions, hands-on STEM and career awareness activities, free resources and interactive materials for the schools, and networking with STEM and industry partners. LC State students also will put on demonstrations on what they have learned in various CTE areas.

Growing Together is sponsored by LC State, Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, the Idaho Forest Group and Northwest Intermountain Dream It Do It. Idaho National Laboratory, which is operated by Battelle Energy Alliance, is also a partner for the event.
