Lewis-Clark State College continues to receive accolades for the quality of education and value it provides to students. The latest comes from College Consensus, which ranked LC State No. 2 in the category of best colleges and universities – both public and private – and also No. 2 in best online colleges in the state.
According to the College Consensus website, the company gathers information from the most respected college ranking systems and the average ratings of thousands of student reviews from around to the web to come up with its unique college ranking system. The website touts the College Consensus approach “offers a comprehensive and holistic perspective missing from other college rankings.”
LC State had an 81.9 percent rating from students, which is higher than the national average of 75.4. The student reviews came from rankings by Unigo, Cappex and Niche. LC State also had a 93.5 score from U.S. News & World Report in 2021.
College Consensus said LC State was unique from the standpoint it offers both career and technical training (associate and bachelor’s of applied science degrees) along with four-year academic degrees. “This arrangement allows Lewis-Clark to meet the specialized technical needs of trade and career students with programs such as CNC Machining Technology, HVAC, and Engineering Technology, with the expanded resources of a full college (including cutting-edge labs and highly prepared faculty). Along with Lewis-Clark’s commitment to adult and technical education, the college is known for its excellent student support and mentorship.”
LC State, which is the most affordable among Idaho’s public four-year institutions, was joined in the top five of both categories by the University of Idaho. For best colleges and universities in Idaho, the rankings were: No.1 University of Idaho, No. 2 LC State, No. 3 BYU-Idaho, No. 4 College of Idaho, and No. 5 Northwest Nazarene. For best online colleges in Idaho, the rankings were: No.1 University of Idaho, No. 2 LC State, No. 3 BYU-Idaho, No. 4 Northwest Nazarene, and No. 5 College of Southern Idaho.
