LEWISTON, Idaho — A quilt exhibition entitled “Primal Forces: Earth” will be on display at the Lewis-Clark State College Center for Arts & History first floor galleries from Aug. 1 through Oct. 31.
An opening reception, which is free and open to the public, will be held Aug. 2 from 4-6 p.m. coinciding with Beautiful Downtown Lewiston’s First Friday. Refreshments will be served at this event.
The exhibit will be the second of a three-part series of Primal Forces (Earth, Wind, Fire) to be showcased at the Center for Arts & History. It comes from the three-part Primal Forces series showcased at the National Quilt Museum. With forty unique art quilts all made by different artists, the exhibit captures individual interpretations of the concept of earth.
“Last spring, the Center showcased 'Primal Forces: Wind,' which was incredibly well-received by the campus and community,” said Alexandria Scalise, program coordinator for Lewis-Clark State College Center for Arts & History. “The Center is thrilled to bring back this extraordinary art quilt exhibition to our community once again!”
An artist talk event showcasing Jean Sredl and Patty Kennedy-Zafred will be held Aug. 30 from 4-6 p.m. in person and via Zoom. The Zoom can be accessed at https://lcsc.zoom.us/j/88432993884.
Grant funding for this exhibition has been provided in part by the Idaho Commission on the Arts.
The Center for Arts & History will reopen Aug. 1 and will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays through Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Fridays, and noon-4 p.m. on Saturdays. To learn more about the exhibit and center visit Center for Arts & History.
