Teacher Ed & Mathematics Division to host Bamako Foli performers

LEWISTON, Idaho — The Lewis-Clark State College Teacher Education & Mathematics (TEAM) Division has invited Bamako Foli to present their musical theater production titled “The Musical Journey of a Malian Life.”

The group will be on campus Oct. 8 and the public is invited to a live concert from 7:30-8:30 p.m. in the Silverthorne Theatre. Additional opportunities for the community and LC State students include workshops and performances taking place on campus and at McGhee Elementary School that day. All performances have been sponsored by LC State’s TEAM division and are free for all attendees.

The events for students focus on the culture of Mali as well as the incorporation of drumming in mathematics. The evening performance, intended for the public, is described by event organizers as “A musical theater presentation highlighting the music that accompanies a Malian person through their life journey of birth, childhood, marriage, naming ceremonies, adulthood, and even death.”
