Janitors must have many skills to keep buildings clean, orderly and in good condition. They can be found working in office buildings, schools, hospitals, retail stores, hotels and many other places.
This 10-hour course covers the safe use of common industrial chemicals used in a custodial setting. It includes the OSHA Hazard Communication Standards. You will learn the basic chemistry of cleaning chemicals and then learn the correct use of detergents, soaps, solvents, disinfectants, and other industrial chemical applications. Learn how chemicals are packed, labeled, mixed and applied in order to make working with them safer for all employees and trainees.
This 8-hour course is comprehensive and designed to enhance your understanding of the many different kinds of floors and flooring materials in use at many locations. You will learn the different varieties of power floor care equipment, how to operate each device safely and efficiently. This course also covers the use and maintenance of auto-scrubbers, powered sweepers, pressure washers, and sanders. This course is perfect for a janitorial newcomer and great for existing janitorial professionals.
This 10-hour course covers the tasks involved in the daily routine maintenance of floors in public and professional buildings. You will learn the types of floor coatings and the proper use of each. We will explain periodic floor care tasks step-by-step, and describe the particular methods used on the various floors and floor coverings found in schools, hospitals, privet and public commercial structures. You will learn to troubleshoot and solve common problems found in floor care. We will also cover the cleaning of walls, windows, furniture, and other above-the-floor surfaces.
This 6 hour course covers the fundamentals of restroom design and construction and the elements of routine rest room cleaning. You will learn the specifics of cleaning rest room plumbing fixtures and the periodic tasks required to keep rest rooms in good condition. You will be introduced to the topic of disinfection and its importance in rest rooms while learning to perform this task safely.
This 8-hour course will cover the many kinds of carpet in use in today’s public facilities. You will learn the importance of preventative maintenance. You will be given step-by-step explanations of the various carpet cleaning methods available. Learn which method of cleaning is best to use on each type of carpet. We will cover stretching, bleeding, insect attack, and many other carpet issues and suggested remedies. We will conclude with a lesson on upholstery fabrics and their care.
In this 6 hour session, you will learn what a GPO is and how it can help make your supplies cost efficient and save you money. Learn about purchasing volume and how you can use it to negotiate discounts with manufacturers, distributors and vendors. You will learn why chemicals are switched out and why you need a system to use new ones on a timetable.
FIRST Aid, Good Samaritan Laws, EMS Systems, Standards of Care, these are all things that are critical in public facilities and we'll cover this and more in this information packed 8 hour course. You will learn how to recognize and respond to emergencies. Learn how to avoid infectious diseases. Learn basic life support: rescue breathing, choking, CPR, AED, bleeding and wound care, shock, burns, Head, spinal, chest and abdominal injuries. Learn to recognize bone, joint and muscle injuries and sudden illness such as cardiac, stroke, respiratory, seizures, diabetes. We'll cover poisonings, bites and stings, heat, cold and environmental emergencies. Learn technique for rescuing and moving victims. This course is made up of hands on exercises and body mechanics training.
